GABRIELA solons De Jesus and Ilagan strongly condemned today attempts by the NHA to demolish the Diosdado Macapagal tenement in Vitas, Tondo and render its residents homeless at 10am and again at 1pm on June 14, 2011. This, despite ongoing negotiations sought by residents of the tenement with NHA to arrive at an agreement where they will be assured of returning back to the housing units once the tenement is rebuilt.  read more »

LAWMAKERS hailed the Supreme Court for giving the farmers of Hacienda Luisita what is due them and called on the estate owners to respect the high tribunal’s decision.

Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada said that this decision will strengthen the backbone of Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

“The decision gives a renewed sense of hope to farmers and farm workers all over the country,” Tañada said.

At least 100 women from Gabriela Women’s Partylist gathered in a flash mob in Congress to dance the chacha. Dubbed as “Women Dance to Stop Chacha”, participants danced the chacha while chanting: “Pilipinas not for sale! Stop, stop Charter Change! Itigil na ang Charter Change!”
