THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office should sell all the expensive sports utility vehicles that bishops returned to generate funds for poor pregnant women seeking professional prenatal care.

Gabriela Rep. Emmi de Jesus said four out of the seven vehicles that have been returned should be sold immediately.

“Assuming the cost of each SUV is at least P2 million each, the amount of P14 million can help at least 3,000 indigent pregnant women seek monthly prenatal check ups for the whole nine months of their pregnancy,” she said.  read more »

MANILA, Philippines - Women’s rights advocate Gabriela has asked the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for a dialogue on the controversial Reproductive Health Bill.

The CBCP News reported that Gabriela sent a letter seeking a dialogue with prelates in order to discuss their arguments on the RH Bill. The letter was sent last week “to present their side and also get our side,” said CBCP secretary general Msgr. Juanito Figura.  read more »
