Solon doubts clamor for GMA to run
A member of the so-called “progressive bloc” in the House of Representatives on Friday expressed doubt about the reported clamor for President Arroyo to run for Congress next year.
“The real clamor of the people is justice. Nine years under Arroyo’s rule have caused more havoc than all the super-typhoons combined. If we could only give her a title, that would be a Guinness world record’s most destructive leader,” said Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza.
Maza refuted claims of Malacañang spokespersons that there is a clamor for the President to run as representative of Pampanga’s second district, saying what the people want is for her to face charges in court when her term expires on June 30, 2010.
The Arroyo administration is perceived as having the most intense allegations of corruption. It also has the most of extrajudicial killings totaling almost 1,000 since Mrs. Arroyo catapulted to power in 2001.
According to Maza, nothing is really new on Mrs. Arroyo’s bid for Congress since this serves as her last ace to continue clinging on to power after all her desperate moves to amend the Constitution have been thwarted.
