The Daily TribuneTiongson sought a restraining order against Singson and got it.
Singson has been ordered not to be anywhere near Tiongson.
Maza initially expressed condemnation against the admission of Singson that he indeed laid a hand on his partner after he caught her cheating with another man.
"Any form of violence against women is condemnable much more if the perpetrator is someone who is holding public office.
"By Mr. Singson’s own admission that he did beat his live-in partner and said that she was even lucky because she was alive shows that he may be liable under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Law,h Maza said in a statement released by Gabriela.
She cited Section 3 of the said law which states that "any act or a series of acts committed by any person against a woman who is his wife, former wife, or against a woman with whom the person has or had sexual or dating relationship, or with whom he has a common child, or against her child whether legitimate or illegitimate, within or without the family abode, which result in or is likely to result in physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering, or economic abuse including threats of such acts, battery, assault, coercion, harassment or arbitrary deprivation of liberty."
