The Philippine StarRep. Liza Maza of Gabriela asked the House of Representatives to look into the bomb attacks in Metro Manila and in Cotabato City, where a powerful explosion killed five people.
“Ordinary people are being killed and terrorized. We do not want to think that these bombing incidents are being orchestrated as a prelude for Malacañang to declare a state of emergency and prolong Mrs. Arroyo’s stay in office. Our people should never be used as collateral damage by the power-hungry,” she said.
She asked the people to be vigilant against efforts by the President and her allies to stay in power beyond 2010.
“PGMA and her allies should be reminded that the Filipino people will never allow any scheme to perpetuate her in power,” Maza said.
