Arroyo resignation 'pag tumakbong kongresista mapanganib daw sa bansa

MANILA – Nagbabala ang isang kaalyado ng administrasyon na magiging mapanganib sa bansa kapag pinagbigyan ang kahilingan ng mga kritiko ng gobyerno na magbitiw sa puwesto si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo kapag tumakbong kongresista sa Pampanga sa 2010 elections.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Marikina Rep. Marcelino Teodoro, na magkakaroon ng leadership vacuum sa gobyerno kapag nagbitiw si Gng Arroyo na posibleng samantalahin ng ibang grupo pagmulan ng kaguluhan sa bansa.

Ayon sa kongresista, katulad ng ilang senador na tatakbong presidente sa 2010 elections, pinapayagan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa Resolution No. 8678 ang pangulo na kumandidato sa kanyang lalawigan sa Pampanga.

“It would pose greater harm for the country if the said resolution be repealed as it will require all elected officials to resign from their posts which may cause social unrest," babala ni Teodoro.

“Definitely there will be a vacuum if this happens. Let us look at the uncertainty that our country will face if all elected officials resign, chaos and non-delivery of social services will ensue and not the politically-motivated underpinnings that the petitioners are building on," idinagdag niya.

Una rito, naghain ng petisyon si Henry Giron, pinuno ng Article 64 Movement at dati umanong tagasuporta ni Fernando Poe Jr., sa Korte Suprema upang ipawalang bisa ang Comelec Res.No. 8678.

Ngunit ayon kay Teodoro, politically motivated ang intensiyon ni Giron dahil si Gng Arroyo ang tumalo kay Poe noong 2004 presidential elections.

“The contested Comelec Resolution No. 8678 has been long before implemented in 2001. To question it now would seem politically motivated, granting the fact that Giron supported the candidacy of FPJ in 2004," pahayag ng kongresista.

“The Supreme Court should carefully deliberate and reach a formidable decision with high regard to the welfare of the country," pag-asam ng mambabatas.

Maging si House Deputy Speaker Simeon Datumanong (Maguindanao), ay naniniwala na puwedeng manatili sa kapangyarihan si Arroyo kapag maghain ito ng certificate of candidacy bilang kandidatong kongresista sa Nobyembre.

“The law allows incumbent elective official to run for any other office without resigning his or her office," ayon Datumanong, dating kalihim ng department of justice.

Panawagan na tumakbo

Lalong lumakas ang espekulasyon na tatakbong kongresista si Arroyo sa pagka-kongresista ng ikalawang distrito ng Pampanga matapos sabihin ng isang tagapagsalita ng Malacanang na may panawagan sa pangulo na kumandidato sa Kongreso.

Ngunit iginiit ni Gabriela party-list Rep. Liza Maza na mas malakas ang panawagan kay Gng Arroyo na panagutan ang umano’y kasalanan sa bayan tulad ng katiwalian at paglabag sa karapatang pantao.

“She must pay for her crimes of plunder and bloody record of human rights violations. Her impunity must end and we will make sure that she will not get off scot-free even if she wins a seat in Congress next year," akusa ng kongresista.

Ang pagtakbo umano ni Arroyo sa Kongreso ay huling paraan nito para manatili sa kapangyarihan matapos hindi magtagumpay ang hakbang na Charter change.

“She may run for any public office and she may brush off all calls for her to resign, but she must remember that all eyes are on her now. We will never allow another 'Hello Garci' or any other forms of cheating," patungkol ni Maza sa kontrobersiyal na resulta ng 2004 presidential elections. - GMANews.TV
