Maza also expressed on Tuesday concern that the impeachment complaint against Gutierrez would go the way of the dismissed impeachment cases against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Maza, during the first hearing of the complaint, noted that First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo had advised Gutierrez's critics to leave her alone after the complaint was filed.

“When this impeachment complaint was filed, the First Gentleman readily said, advised his critics to leave her alone, and some have interpreted this as a marching order to administration allies. I'd like to know the opinion of the chair if this pronouncement of the First Gentleman ... will influence the proceedings,” Maza said.
