12% VAT sa langis kailangan nang alisin

(Noel Abuel) Ang pagpapatigil sa pangongolekta ng 12 por­syentong Value Added Tax (VAT) sa lahat ng produktong petrolyo ang dapat na gawin ng pamahalaan para makatulong sa taumbayan na makaahon sa kahirapan.

“Stop the collection of 12% VAT on petroleum products. This is the best relief that the government can offer to the transport-riding public and all sectors of our society dependent on petroleum products,” giit ni Gabriela partylist Rep. Emmi De Jesus.

Idinagdag pa nito na maihahalintulad sa nakalipas na administrasyon ang pamimigay ng smart cards ni Pangulong Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III para sa mga jeepney at tricycle operators na mistulang pamamahagi ng Philhealth cards.

Simula umano ng Ene­ro ng kasalukuyang taon ay 10 beses nang nagtaas ng presyo sa produktong petrolyo kung saan P57.36 kada litro na ang presyo ng gasolina habang ang diesel ay P46.70 kada litro at ang kerosene ay P53.50 kada litro sa Metro Manila.

“I challenge the Aquino administration to go beyond “pa-pogi” oil subsidies to the transport sector. It does not hit the problem on the head. He must issue an executive order to the Department of Finance and the Bureau of Internal Re­venue to suspend VAT on oil. Immediately, jeepney drivers will feel the impact of sa­ving P175 and P27.80 for the tricycle drivers for a day of work. In the meantime, fishermen will have savings of P66.04 on diesel used for a night of fishing and a family can save P90.68 per month for LPG,” paliwanag pa ni De Jesus.

Sinabi naman ni Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño na ang pagbasura sa Oil Deregulation Law at pag-aalis ng VAT sa systems loss gayundin ang pag-aalis sa royalty sa natural gas.
