“President Aquino’s administration has been proven inutile in securing swift justice for the families of Ampatuan massacre victims as it continues to cultivate and foster the culture of impunity,” declared GWP Rep. Emmi De Jesus as the families and media groups commemorated the 1000th day of the Ampatuan massacre.

“The Ampatuan massacre symbolizes the viciousness of the state of impunity that ravages Filipinos’ human rights. It symbolizes the evil alliances of political dynasties and how they can embed themselves into power to exploit the country,” added De Jesus.

“Habang malayo ang katarungan para sa mga biktima ng walang saysay na pagpatay sa ating bansa, laluna ng mga mamamahayag, at nananatiling malaya ang mga may gawa nito, duguan ang ‘daang matuwid’ na ipinagmamalaki ni Pangulong Aquino,” added Rep. De Jesus.

“One thousand days after the massacre and after four witnesses have been killed, we further realize that the level of injustice suffered by the victims of human rights violations in our country has gone from bad to worse. As long as the Aquino government does nothing to speed up justice, Philippine democracy and freedom are a sham and remain as shadows of unrealized hopes,” ended De Jesus.###
