Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. De Jesus berated President Aquino for not walking his talk on combating graft and corruption in this country in the case of former President Gloria Arroyo.

“Gloria Arroyo does not deserve the special treatment afforded to her by the Aquino administration at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center just because she continues to pretend that she is very sick. Women demand that she be jailed in an ordinary jail in the same manner that poor women accused of very simple crimes such as petty theft are immediately locked up in jail. In much the same way that the Aquino administration exerted its all in prosecuting CJ Corona, it should muster as much political will in ensuring a swift conclusion on the charges against Arroyo,” said GWP Rep. Emmi De Jesus.

“We demand the immediate prosecution of Gloria Arroyo for the cases of electoral sabotage, plunder and human rights violations. We demand that President Aquino exercise his political will to the fullest in order to expedite these cases. His failure to do so will make him a silent co-conspirator and accessory to impunity and violence perpetrated by the Arroyo regime,” De Jesus concluded. ###
