Pacquiao is Heavyweight Hall-of-Famer for Throwing Punches of Support Behind the P125 Bill, GWP

"I am extremely pleased that Rep. Manny Pacquiao stood himself proud in front of the hundreds of thousands of Filipino workers oppressed by unjust wages, when he threw his support behind HB 375. As a co-author of HB 375, I do believe that it is about time Congress legislates a P125 wage increase for workers due to incessant increases in the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities, and the continuous decrease in the real value of wages," commented Rep. De Jesus of the Gabriela party list.

"It has been widely acknowledged that Rep. Pacquiao wasn't able to throw a singularly successful punch when he stood up to interpellate the RH bill, but we appreciated his genuine concern for the poor when he expressed that he preferred to throw his support behind policies that will truly address poverty. While national industrialization and a genuine land reform are the more strategic policies to liberate most of the poor, the legislated P125 will definitely serve as an economic relief for workers," added Rep. De Jesus.

"We may not agree on the value of a comprehensive and pro-poor RH bill, but we definitely agree on the need to pass HB 375 into law," ended the Gabriela solon.###
