Maza Hits Evil Twins Palparan & Alcover

“The monstrous obsession of the butcher and his evil twin against the progressive bloc is just hysterically pathetic. Apparently, Palparan and Alcover’s only reason for being is to vilify and malign leaders and members of legitimate organizations and progressive partylists. It is a pity.”

This is the statement of Rep. Liza Maza of Gabriela Women’s Party against the malicious accusations hurled by Jovito Palparan and Pastor Alcover against Melissa Roxas, a member of Bayan-USA, who was allegedly abducted and tortured by the military last May 19-25, 2009.

Recently, Palparan and Alcover of partylists Bantay and Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD), respectively accused Roxas of being a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) and proliferated videos that ostensibly showed her to be an NPA. During the House Committee on Human Rights hearing yesterday, Melissa confirmed that the photo held by Alcover and Palparan was the same photo showed to her by her abductors.

“It seems that they are very affected and hit by Melissa’s revelations such that both have become so desperate to discredit the victim. They appear to be so defensive amidst allegations that they have a hand in the string of human rights abuses in the country,” Maza said.

“Tila iyang si Palparan at ang kambal niyang si Alcover ay mga asong ulol sa loob ng Kongreso na walang ibang alam kundi ang kumahol at magkalat ng rabis,” Maza added.

Maza also hauled Palparan and Alcovers’s rehashed accusations over the coals against Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo whose rebellion cases have long been junked by the Supreme Court. She also lambasted Alcover’s malicious slur that even tried to discredit Commission on Human Rights Chairperson (CHR) Leila de Lima by insinuating that the latter has connections with the communists during the CHR hearing yesterday.
 
“Their foul and frothing-in-the- mouth accusations are nothing but fabricated and lame charges,” Maza said. ###
