Maza Files Resolution Seeking Independent Investigation on Blasts

In a series of speaking engagements in Mindanao against Con-Ass this week, Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Liza Maza expressed her strongest condemnation on the spate of bombings she described as a Marcosian patent.

“The brains behind these blasts appear to be all set in spawning an atmosphere of terror and hysteria to all Filipinos. It is just so suspicious that these string of bombings happen as PGMA’s final SONA draws near,” Maza said.

“Tila ang mensahe ng mga may pakana nito ay balutin tayo araw-araw sa takot at kaguluhan. Hindi natin papayagang magwagi sila at ang kanilang mga balak dahil buhay at pagkatao natin ang nasasakripisyo. Kailangang puksain ang mga utak sa likod ng walang saysay na karahasang ito,” Maza exclaimed.

The Gabriela solon today filed House Resolution No. 1257 directing the Committee on Public Order and Safety to conduct an investigation, in aid of legislation, into the string of bomb-related incidents in Maguindanao, Cotabato City and parts of Metro Manila and the most recent explosions in Jolo, Sulu, Iligan City and Lanao del Norte.

Maza stressed the urgency of an immediate and independent investigation on these incidents so as persecute those responsible for these evil acts and attain justice for the victims and their families.

Finally, Maza advised people to be more careful and vigilant in all places all the time. She also called on local authorities to be more responsible in ensuring the safety and security of the people.
