GWP Salutes the Unwavering Fight of the Luisita Farmers

“Gabriela Women’s Party salutes the farm workers of Hacienda Luisita because of their militant and unwavering stand to fight for their land and life. Despite extreme poverty, militarization, and human rights violations including the Luisita Massacre, they remained firm in their struggle to this day,” said GWP Rep. Emmi De Jesus as the Supreme Court ordered the distribution of 5,000 hectares of Hacienda Luisita.

“Gabriela Women’s Party is calling on President Aquino to immediately direct the concerned government agencies to distribute land. Another day of delay in the distribution of land is another day of injustice for the farm workers. The President must also ensure that land distribution is coupled with production assistance so as to ensure that big corporate growers will not take advantage of cash-stripped farmers,” explained the Gabriela solon.

“Gabriela Women's Party will sustain its efforts to support the farmers and farm workers of Hacienda Luisita until every ounce of victory in the fight for land and life has been gained,” ended De Jesus.
