This is a grand sell-out of our country’s patrimony, leaving nothing behind to our future generations,” said GWP Rep. Emmi De Jesus as the House of Representatives Committee on Constitutional Amendments resumed hearings on House Concurrent Resolution 10.

“The Constitution is not the reason why we are a poor country. It is primarily because of the iron grip of US imperialism on Philippine economy, aided and abetted by a government which lacks the political will to protect the interests of the Filipino people, especially the marginalized. This tandem stunts and kills local industries, exploits natural resources, and worsens social inequity,” explained the Gabriela solon.

“The claim of Charter Change proponents that Charter Change will usher foreign investments and national development is a grand deception. It will, instead, make our country more open to pillage and destruction by big foreign businesses, eventually rendering our country a wasteland once they are through with the rape of our resources,” Rep. Emmi De Jesus quipped.

“Instead of giving Constitutional license to foreign investors to plunder our country, the Aquino government and proponents of Charter Change should instead. regulate the oil industry, dismantle monopolies, implement genuine agrarian reform, and nationalize vital Philippine industries,” ended De Jesus.###
